I was previously employed by the City of Edmonton as a Program Leader. I planned and supervised a variety of children’s activities, including sports and songs, in after-school programs, day camps, and on playgrounds. Safety is important to me in working with youth, and to that end, I performed thorough site checks before every program, I was mindful of potentially harmful situations, and I reviewed my own knowledge of first aid frequently.
Before that, I worked as a high school tutor for several years. For these students, I explained concepts, worked with them through problems, and provided them with practice. It was this experience that prompted me to enrol at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton. With transfer credit from prior studies, I have completed approximately two years of coursework toward a bachelor’s degree in education, at the secondary level.
I have enjoyed working with youth of all ages, and I do welcome the opportunity to continue to do so.
