Featuring 5 specialized rooms for children age 12 months old to not-yet in grade one, a fully-fenced, (soon to be) forest- inspired play yard and an indoor room designed for active play. We partner with families to support each childs individual development with open communication and frequent family fun days. Our goal is to provide a safe, loving environment for children to thrive in, becoming caring, confident citizens.
After more than 10 years working in childcare, as well as attending group daycare as a child, I have noticed that overcrowding causes stress in children which leads to health issues (such as constipation) and behaviour issues (such as aggression). Our building is large enough to enroll 90 children by licensing stardards, but we have capped our enrollment at 58 children. By keeping our class sizes smaller, and our rooms larger than the minimum recommended amount, we prevent health and behaviour issues and therefore keep children safer. Smaller class sizes means more individualized care, children are able to do more without a conflict with a friend, and fosters intellectual development since the brain and body is able to focus on learning through play without the inhibitions of stress. Our classes are structured differently than other child care programs where children stay in the same groups longer (toys and programming are adjusted to the developmental growth) so children can maintain the relationships they have formed with their care providers and the other children. It has a dayhome feel but the the reliability and consistancy of a Group Child Care Program.
Parents are supported in the stressful job they have balancing work and family. We provide a healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks, which is one less thing they need to worry about before heading off the work for the day. We even provide complimentary coffee for parents! Open Houses are planned monthly (on Saturdays) so families can come see what their children have been doing and to meet the other families in the program. Also planned are workshops, special events, clothes and toy swaps.
Expanding Imaginations Child Care is owned by a young family, not a large corporation. The fees that you pay are reinvested in the child care program, not paying for corporate offices and the people who work in them. My husband and myself are employed by Expanding Imaginations Child Care, as the Program Supervisor and a relief caregiver / office administrator. We have 2 children, age 4 and 6 who are both enrolled in the program. The purpose of Expanding Imaginations Child Care is to form a partnership with families to optimize the development of children in the first 5 years of life, which is when an important foundations are formed in regards to socialization and attitudes to learning (studies have shown).
From song and dance, and learning through play
