Adel's Play N Discovery House is a licensed childcare centre for 3-5 years old. It presents a play-based program inspired by the Reggio Emilia innovative approach in early childhood education, based upon the following set of principles: *children must have control over the direction of their learning; children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, seeing and hearing; children have a relationship with other children and with open ended materials that children must be allowed to explore; and children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.
We promote play-based activities in music & movements; arts & crafts; sensory; science, math, pretend and active play where children have opportunities to explore, observe, hypothesize, question and discuss to clarify their understanding. We motivate and encourage children's spontaneous, creative self-expression while they engage in play activities, thus increasing their sense of competence and well being now and into adulthood. Diverse and open ended materials are provided to extend and deepen children's understanding through multiple, hands on experiences. We believe that rich, stimulating experiences provided in a safe, responsive environment create the best condition for optimal brain development. Children learn literacy, science and mathematics joyfully through fun active play with diverse open ended materials. Our indoor and outdoor play encourages working and playing together in groups so that children learn to appreciate not only their own ideas and ways of doing things, but also each other. |
