The forty children enrolled in our program are incorporated into a family group setting and will only be divided by age for small group time (circle time).
The program is designed to encourage children to choose their own activities during free play, moving freely from one activity to another within the boundaries of child/staff ratios and area capacities. Theme based activities will be offered that foster age appropriate development in all areas, with each teacher planning and implementing activities for each program area.
The group is divided into four groups for circle time; these groups will be established by putting children of similar age and developmental abilities together. Circle activities are planned and carried out by each teacher based on the current theme and children’s developmental levels. There are approximately 10 children per group and children move from group to group as they mature and as space becomes available.
Routines and transition periods between activities make up a large part of the children’s day. Calm, clear, unhurried directions and explanations will reduce stress, create a natural flow to the day and allow “routine” periods to be educational and fun.
