Manor Road Co-operative Nursery School was established by the Junior League in 1935 as an outdoor play group for children. In 1937, the operation of the school was taken over by the parents, and it became the first co-operative nursery school in Canada. It has continued as the oldest co-operative nursery school at the same location, in the Church of the Transfiguration, located at Manor Road and Redpath Avenue. The school has always been non-profit, self-supporting and non-denominational. Also, it is a member of the Toronto District Parent Co-operative Preschool Corporation (P.C.P.C.).
Our Program: The program provides gently guided activities with a wide range of materials. Our theme based environment offers children the opportunity to explore and learn through many different avenues. Arts and crafts, dramatic play, gross motor and a learning circle are all part of a child's daily activities. Indoor and outdoor activities encompass a variety of developmental areas that help children flourish on a day to day basis.
