New Montessori Childcare Program opening in NW Calgary!
Mockingbird Kids is an innovative new full-day child care program opening in Charleswood on December 1st, 2009. Our aim is to provide a warm and caring environment that will nurture your child’s creativity, curiosity and desire for independence.
• We use Montessori methods and materials to foster a child’s natural love of learning and their remarkable ability to focus on a given task.
• Daily nature explorations help children to appreciate and feel part of the natural world. Through the natural world children can explore subjects such as math, biology, geography while increasing their vocabulary and gaining confidence.
• We devote time to active play everyday. Whether it is gardening in the spacious backyard, playing tag and soccer at the local field, or enjoying a kid’s yoga class from Cindy at Karma Kids, your child will be engaged in healthy and energetic activities everyday.
• We work with a registered dietitian. Jennifer House of First Step Nutrition helps us to ensure that we provide only the best meals and snacks for your child. Our menus have been very carefully planned and we use only the freshest, natural ingredients (whole grains, organic produce), making sure we meet your child’s nutritional needs everyday while introducing them to new and interesting food choices.
We have our Level Two Early Learning and Childcare Certification from Alberta Children and Youth Services. We are certified in Child First Aid and CPR and have current police clearance. We are in the midst of the licensing process and expect to have our program license by January 1st, 2010.
Children are endlessly curious and remarkably capable when given the opportunity to explore and take on challenges that are suitable to their level of development. Children need emotional comfort and stability in order to gain the confidence to take steps toward independence. At Mockingbird Kids, every child in our care is treated with dignity and respect and receives the emotional, physical and intellectual support they need and deserve.
