WE ARE OPEN!!!
We are licensed Child Care Centre
Folllow The Child is fully licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and our standards exceed the provinces requirements. The Centre is routinely inspected by the Health Department, Fire Department, and licensing officers from the Ministry of Community and Social Services.
All of our staff meet or exceed the provinces requirement for educational achievement. Every classroom is headed by a teacher with a degree in either early childhood development or education. Additional staff has either formal training in early childhood education or equivalent training and experience. Staffing levels are maintained according to the requirements of the Day Nurseries Act.
Our staff are thoroughly screened, references are checked, as well as undergoing a health and physical examination. Only the most qualified, thoughtful and caring staff work at Follow The Child. Following our careful selection process each staff member receives training and centre orientation before beginning work in the classroom. Their skills and competency are evaluated on an ongoing basis. Your feedback and comments to the supervisor or director with regards to the staff are encouraged. Occasionally student volunteers will work in the centre, under the direct supervision of qualified staff. Their presence is a great asset to the centre as well as valuable experience in their education.
We offer a full day program for toddlers focusing on both physical and mental growth. Toddlers are given the freedom to explore in a safe and stimulating environment. Through thoughtful teacher guidance, social interactions are encouraged. A wide variety of planned indoor and outdoor activities are included each day. Toddlers will be offered lunch and two snacks a day in small groups at low tables with appropriate toddler chairs. A nap or rest period will be provided for approximately two hours every day. We provide a toilet training routine and a daily charting system to assist parents.
• Teacher/child ratio is 1:5 in the toddler room.
Preschoolers are ready to learn many new concepts including colors, shapes, numbers, size, position, patterning, sequencing, vocabulary, and listening skills. There is also plenty of time for running, jumping, climbing, dancing and developing social skills by functioning as part of a group. All of these skills are presented in a fun-filled way both inside the classroom, and out in the playground. Lunch and two snacks a day are provided.
• Teacher/child ratio in preschool is 1:8.
Kindergarten is a time for beginning reading and math skills to prepare your child for first grade. We offer a full-day program so your child has time to expand reading and math skills we are able to achieve this through the Montessori philosophy. Some of the other programs available for the children to participate in are dramatics, music, art and special field trips. Follow The Child kindergarten program offer extra attention for your child with considerably lower child/teacher ratio's than is currently available in the school system. Your child's day is designed to meet the physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of this age group. Lunch and two snacks are provided.
• Teacher/child ratio in Junior and Senior Kindergarten is 1:13
