Little Stars Child Development Centre is a Kitsilano daycare with junior kindergarten programming. Our curriculum is aimed at promoting the development of our future leaders.
We employ a play-based and Reggio Emilia inspired approach. The enthusiastic, positive attitudes of our experienced and qualified teachers rub off on the little ones, ensuring that they equate learning with fun!
Our curriculum is designed to prepare children for their future roles as leaders and to ensure a successful transition to formal education. Every opportunity is taken to promote opportunities for creative thinking, problem solving, and developing teamwork skills via play-based activities (including free play and guided play) and community outings.
The Centre is a home away from home and provides a stimulating yet safe and loving environment. Parent input and participation is encouraged. We respect that time is precious for working families; our exceptional staff will work with you to establish the groundwork for the best possible developmental journey for your child.
A sample of program features which distinguish our Centre:
- challenging activities to promote early problem solving and team work skills in addition to basic early learning
- daily outings: opportunities for interaction within the community at libraries, community centres, parks & other age-appropriate destinations
- a balance of organized activities and free play: teachers adapt traditional singular approaches to create an 'interdisciplinary' approach unique to Little Stars
- promote early involvement in volunteerism: currently, the group volunteers monthly at a nearby seniors' hospital
Little Stars is decidedly non-institutional, located on a quiet, safe, tree-lined avenue. Our program is best suited to children between 3 and 5 years, but we gladly consider applications from older children and those between 30 and 35 months. Class size limited to 8.
Close to Arbutus and Broadway, our location is convenient for families living or working in Kitsilano, Point Grey, UBC, False Creek, Dunbar, Kerrisdale, downtown, and most other Vancouver West neighbourhoods.
