Bumble Bear Daycare, is a fully licensed, fully subsidized and fully Accredited Daycare Center located in South Lethbridge. All Staff have 5 or more years of experience, current record checks, current first aid, and certification in early childhood education.
Bumble Bear Daycare currently follows a play-based approach to early learning. Staff & Management strive to provide environments for children that promote divergent thinking, problem solving and independence, whilst creating and maintaining ways that the environment can simultaneously promote and provide opportunities for accomplishment, success, pride and the building of a high self-esteem in children.
We also promote inclusion, cross-cultural understanding, diversity and acceptance through materials, curriculum and literature that are culturally diverse, that represent children and people of many cultures, and people with different abilities. Our environment and curriculum also encourages the expression and acceptance of the emotions, feelings and perspective of self and others.
Creating a bridge to independence is encouraged by teaching children in steps to do things like wash their hands, pick up their toys, problem-solve etc. as each individual child is ready. All aspects of development are built upon through the availability of Gross-motor, Art, Manipulatives, Dramatic Play, Sensory, Literature, Music centers and more in each room at all times. Each of these is incorporated into the planning that is done each week and followed through with each day.
Planning is based on the staffs observation of the interests of the children in their room. We follow a schedule that includes daily planned activities for art, literature, gross motor, and sensory activities as well as having outdoor time twice daily, and free-play time. We provide a morning and afternoon snack and lunch each day. We also have an (optional-we base this on parents preference) nap each day and flexible nap times in the infant room (naps in infant room run on an as-needed basis)
