I thought of the name "Seedlings" because it represents growth, individuality and beauty, this is how I feel about each child.
I truly believe that each child has the right to be safe, to make choices, share ideas, explore, discover, play, love, to be loved, to be well nourished, to rest, to be heard, to listen, dance, sing, create, problem solve, to interact with others, laugh and have fun! I strongly believe in the Reggio approach to teaching children.
A little History about me...
My name is Jen. I am a wife and mother to two children aged 15 years old and 2 years old. I have 15 years experience with children. I began working in a daycare with a special needs child and this experience made me realize that each child is an individual with the right to learn at his/her speed and level. I proceeded to work in a private clinic that followed a play based method to working with special needs children. Upon graduating from Algonquin College with my Early Childhood Education diploma I began working in Daycare Centers as an educator and Director. This is when I was introduced to the Reggio Philosophy.
I went to workshops in Detroit, Toronto, London and took a week long study tour in Reggio Emilia, Italy. I am passionate about my work with children and I love to learn.
I began this journey as an educator in my home so that I can further my work with children in a philosophy that I believe best suits the needs of children and families.
I look forward to beginning this journey with you!

About my program...
Daily circle-work on calendar, weather, concepts, discuss what we are working on
A nutritious menu that will follow Canada's food guide. I will offer a morning, afternoon snack and lunch. I also have my food handler's certificate.
A structured, yet flexible daily schedule. Many opportunities for free play, group activities and developmentally appropriate activities.
A safe, fun-loving and nurturing environment.
A creative art program, a dedicated music time to introduce new songs, dance and expose the children to an assortment of instruments.
I will provide each child with a portfolio of pictures, art work they have done and small write up on milestones. This provides each family with a wonderful keepsake. I understand how hard it is to leave your children and this is one way I can help to document what they have done throughout their day/week.
I believe it is important to have a healthy relationship between myself and families. I will be available to discuss your child's day.
We will go outside in the morning and afternoon (depending on the weather)
