Home-based Child Care: Room for 2!
I am a professional woman with a 20 month-old son, transitioning to staying at home with him this spring. We are looking for 2 little friends to join us: preferably one 1 year old and one toddler 20m +.
About me:
- 37 years old, in great health
- mother of one 20 month old boy, married
- auntie to 5 kids ages 6 – 10
- I am Canadian (Dutch heritage)
- English and Spanish are spoken in our home (I only know the basics)
- professional background in event planning, small business management, adult education, training, and facilitation
- Enrolling in upcoming First Aid and CPR training
- My sister owns a wonderful children’s bookstore in the Beach
About our home:
- 2 story semi-detached home in a friendly neighbourhood (Coxwell & Upper Gerrard)
- organized with priority on child safety
- great toys and games, focused on creative play and development
- enclosed back yard with toddler focused toys and activities (sand box, water works etc…)
- smoke free, pet free (except one little fish)
- clean, tidy and bright
- comfy, cozy napping places
Your child can participate in:
- daily outings to local drop-in centres, parks, splash pads (or active indoor play on rain-days)
- cultivating flowers and hopefully a small vegetable garden
- daily music and singing (we love to sing!)
- daily story reading – multicultural, English and Spanish books
- daily creative activity – colouring, playdoh, painting, paste and paper…
- appropriate kitchen activities
- language development through repetition and naming of objects, emotions… everything!
- Learning some Spanish vocabulary and counting (I’m not fluent, but learning!)
- limited TV programs (Treehouse) and videos (Baby Einstein, Dora, Diego, Thomas…)
Snacks and Meals:
- nutritious snacks and meals, with a focus on all the basic food groups, with occasional treats
- emphasis on drinking filtered water over juices or sugary drinks
- will discuss with you, and maintain whatever dietary guidelines you have
Social Development Approach:
- emphasis on kindness, sharing, cooperation and being a good friend
- kids are little people that learn to respect others by being respected!
- learning through natural consequences (i.e. cold hands need mittens!) – within the bounds of safety & good sense!
- predictable routines
- Reinforce common sense safety skills and habits
Write me an email, and we can start to talk! |
