Hi Mommies! (and Daddies!)
My name is Jen and I am a stay at home mom to two young children. After years working for the government I have decided to take a break from the professional world and spend some time with my family. While I do so I am looking to provide care for a small number of children, beginning in September on either a full time, part-time, temporary, and/or before and after school basis.
I am recently CPR/First Aid/AED certified, have a clean police record, am a non-smoker, and have been nannying (and of course babysitting as a young teenager) on and off for nearly 15 years. I've completed a degree in Psychology specializing in child psychology and social development and am in the process of working on getting my Early Childhood Education diploma.
Our home is located in the Longfields area of Barrhaven and has a main floor play area, finished above-ground basement, and a fenced backyard for running around. Seperate napping areas, quiet play zones, and carpeted areas for running around make our home easy on kids knees! We enjoy daily walks, playing in the park, colouring and crafting, reading, healthy home-made meals and snacks, and are adding to our collection of outdoor play toys on a regular basis!
St. Luke's, Berrigan PS, and partial grades for Adrienne Clarkson are within the school district, and our home is within walking distance of the bus stop.
As I understand every child is an individual I intend on keeping a fairly casual schedule, allowing for nap and meals times to be focused around each child's (and parent's) individual needs. Creative play will be encouraged and there will be plenty of time for exploring and learning.
For the moment I will be focusing on bringing in a small number of children so that each gets special attention in a home-based environment, versus a structured typical daycare (no more than one other full time child, or two part time). Rates are flexible!
