Hello, my name is Sharon VanStarkenburg and I am pleased to offer a Montessori preschool program in a warm, nurturing environment in my home. I have a degree in Fine Art, Studio from the University of Ottawa and a Casa Montessori Teacher Certificate from the American Montessori Society. I am CPR and First Aid Certified. I am also mother to a son who attended Montessori school for 7 years. I have been working in Montessori schools for over 13 years, first as a volunteer, then as an assistant and for the last 11 years as a Directress. I am very excited to make the shift from an institutional setting to a truly loving, secure and supportive home environment. I look forward to providing an excellent, individualized education based on the Montessori philosophy and materials but also fostering strong bonds with each child in my care. I look forward to meeting you and your child!
The program at Casa Montessori Daycare consists of a wide range of activities including the 5 basic Montessori areas of curriculum: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language Arts, Math and Culture, but also arts, crafts, physical education and play. Group lessons and activities are an important part of each day, including discussions, stories, songs and art lessons. The classroom is carefully prepared to meet the needs and interests of each child and promote a love of learning, independence and confidence. Monthly themes will ensure a wide variety of topics to cover as a group and individually. Nutritious snacks and lunches are provided and enjoyed together each day. There is also daily outdoor play, weather permitting, in a park just steps away in our quiet, residential area. As well, the children will have a chance to rest and/or nap each day. The program is open to children 2.5-6 years of age.
Fees are $1300 per month, which include before and after care, full day Montessori program, nutritious snacks and lunch. You will receive two written reports a year on your child’s progress and tax receipts are provided.
We follow the OCDSB holiday schedule for seasonal and statutory holidays, excluding P.D. days. |
