Treeholm Daycare has openings in September 2012 for infants and children up to five years old. I am an experienced Grandma, licensed Kindermusik educator, and semi-retired university professor. Our program consists of arts and crafts (in our fully equipped art studio which is attached to my home), music, story time, play time, basic learning activities geared to your child’s level, and lots more!
My philosophy of learning is that children need space to develop their unique personalities through carefully designed learning activities, and they need direction to develop independence and social skills. The routine of a structured program gives them stability, while being nurtured and respected gives them courage to try something new. My daughter (a Mom and respected professional as well) will be available to assist and to provide back up care in case of illness or appointments so that daycare operation will not be affected. Often, both of us will be on-site so that children have lots of individual attention. Both of us are in the process of obtaining full St. John’s Ambulance Level “C” CPR + AED certification (The most comprehensive certification St. John’s offers), as well as police checks.
Two nutritious snacks and lunch will be provided each day. I use largely un-processed food, and organic food where available. I am also very open to using cloth diapers, as I used them for my own children and my granddaughter as well. I do not use harsh chemicals to clean toys, but prefer to use natural cleaners such as vinegar and steam cleaning.
I am an energetic, fun-loving, affectionate person who truly delights in watching children grow to achieve their full potential. Having successfully raised my own three children to adulthood has taught me that these years go by so quickly, and we need to take time to enjoy the little things in life.
This is a centrally located, smoke-free home with lots of space, both indoors and outdoors. The house sits on an acre of property in the Old Teacher’s College area, and is a very large century home with an attached two-story addition, which houses the art studio. As an educator by profession, I am well-equipped to take advantage of your child’s thirst for learning in the early years to provide both a loving and intellectually stimulating environment. As a loving grandma, I have the advantage of not having small children of my own, so my entire energy can be devoted to giving your child the best possible experience in my home. As a licenced Kindermusik educator, I am well-trained in using music, as well as movement, stories, and crafts to enhance learning in the early years.
