I am a loving mother of 2 school-aged children, and have my diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have a recent clear criminal records check and an up-to-date Standard First Aid with CPR level "C" certificate, and am a member of the CCPRN. I am a non-smoker. I also have lots of experience working with children of all ages and experience working in a licensed childcare center. I am fluently bilingual in English and french and will plan activities, learning opportunities and story-time in both languages.
I strongly believe that children learn through play and strive in a nurturing and positive environment. I offer a homemade healthy lunch and 2 snacks daily that follow the Canadian food guide, a curriculum that allows for structured and spontaneous play, sensory bin for various sensory activities; that is changed out weekly or bi-weekly, circle time, indoor/outdoor play, and arts/crafts. We have a "Kindermusik" teacher that comes to daycare on a bi-weekly basis for a music class which the children all very much enjoy. My daily program involves lots of music which incorporates rhythm and movement, and singing and dancing that helps promote spatial awareness and develop gross motor skills. We also attend a weekly playgroup at the Senior Home that we walk to, where the children enjoy interacting with the residents, and engage in playing with other children. I think it is very important to explore our outdoors/nature as much as possible. We love to go on nature walks in the trails nearby, walk over and play at our various parks in the neighborhood, visit the pond to feed the ducks, or go splish splash at the splash-pad down the street on those hot summer days! :)
My home offers a bright main floor playroom with many stimulating and educational toys for all ages, a main floor craft area with art table and easel, a sensory bin for exploring with our senses, a backyard where we can run through the sprinkler and go down the slide. I have playpens and cots for the children to enjoy their nap time or rest period in dedicated "sleep room". We have a "secret" facebook group just for parents so that you can keep updated on how your child is doing during the day. We live within walking distance to many parks and a splash pad for those hot summer days.
My home daycare is a home away from home environment that your child/children will laugh, learn, play, and grow.
