My name is Colleen and I'm a mother of 3 young children.
Twin daughters in grade 5 and a son in grade 6.
I am a very warm and encouraging care provider, and create a loving supportive environment for your children to blossom along side my own.
I am firm with positive reinforcement as a model for behavioural issues, teach all of the children in my care how to show compassion and share their feelings with words. I highly support "sharing is caring" mentality. I closely focus on the entire groups' ability to socialize in a positive manner. Your child will be loved and cared for as if they were my own. A focus on life skills, emotional regulation, communication, healthy eating habits and social bonding is ever present.
As a private voice teacher, I hold my degree in vocal music and am a member of Milton Music Teacher's Association. I am also a formerly licensed Kindermusik educator. Besides raising my own children, I have many years of experience taking care of children of all ages. My home daycare has been open since January 2012 and all of the munchkins that have joined us feel very much a part of our extended family. I have many references should you request them.
Healthy home cooked meals and snacks fill every one's bellies. Breakfast, lunch and two snacks are served. Main floor only, separate nap area. Rotated toys. Structured routine with reading time, abc's, circle time on a daily basis. Fully fenced backyard for play with great age appropriate toys, many parks within walking distance. I'm a firm believer that fresh air is a must and we all get outside!
As part of my daycare program, your child will become enriched with music in our very musical home. We sing for our meals around here! Exposure and encouraged/guided play of many instruments (guitar, piano, drums, whistles, flutes, the list goes on) happens on a daily basis. Dance parties, yoga and sing alongs are my favourite part of what I do!
I am also willing to participate / help in potty training of young toddlers while they are in my care.
