Hello Parents!
Thank you for choosing Fairy Glen Family Daycare as your care provider. I am looking forward to having your child join in on all the fun here! I'll just take a moment of your time and tell you a little bit about who I am, how Fairy Glen Family Daycare started and of course we'll touch on what you can expect your child to experience while in child care.
First and foremost, the health, safety and the well-being of your children while in my care is my strongest focus. In addition to being a mother myself, I currently hold a valid Early Childhood Education Assistant License, Child Care First Aid, Food Safe, clean criminal background check, have taken all required child care training courses approved through Child Care Licensing and have met all of the requirements to have a RLNR Daycare, which is registered with Child Care Resource and Referral. I continue to take classes and workshops throughout the year to keep current with relevant information, resources, activities and gain new insight. I also enjoy attending extra workshops on parenting, crafts, playtime, language and other interactive activities that I can bring back and incorporate into my curriculum at the Fairy Glen Family Daycare.
As a single mother, I wanted to make sure my daughter's transition into childcare through Kindergarten was successful. I really wanted to be at home, involved and hands-on with setting up a stimulating and fun learning environment to encourage confidence, social skills, language and engaging educational experiences to ensure future success! I’m energetic by nature, fun, active, caring, interactive, engaging and I play on the floor alongside the children. I believe strongly that children’s learning takes place when they play, from building relationships, from real-life experiences and from what we role model.
I have a curriculum outline that flexes gently with every child's individual need. I spend time getting to know the children here so I can help support their individual learning best. With infants and toddlers in particular, building relationships and introducing experiences is the curriculum. I have open-ended snack and meal times, naps/ quiet time, indoor and outdoor play, regular library visits, field trips, walks and a large emphasis on having fun. We do crafts and activities to encourage cognitive, social/ emotional and physical development with an emphasis on language.
I’m enrolled in Early Childhood Education part time as well in order to complete my diploma. I encourage a family friendly environment where there is sharing, collaboration, ideas shared and open dialogue; between the families who are registered here and myself. I encourage the children here to build healthy relationships so that they can learn and support each other as they encounter new experiences and master new skills. I take steps to ensure that the children entering my program are compatible with one another and close in age so that this vision is possible.
