Little Ducks Daycare is a well established, private/unlicensed/non-subsidized home based daycare that has been providing Barrhaven children a safe and happy place to learn and play for over 10 years. 🙂
🐥We are located in the Chapman Mills area of Barrhaven (Strandherd/Woodroffe) near Metro Grocery store.
🐥Our hours are 7:30-4:30
🐥Tuition fees are 300 per week
* Our home and daycare are smoke-free, pool-free, cloth diaper friendly, and pet friendly. (we have a dog and two cats who are all very sweet natured) I do not drive anywhere with the daycare children. Any traveling within our neighbourhood is done on foot with our quad stroller. Our home is *not* nut-free, and we unfortunately cannot accommodate children with life-threatening anaphylactic allergies of any type. (Less serious allergies/food intolerances can be discussed individually to determine whether I could accommodate the requirements)
* I'm an experienced, ECE trained daycare and preschool teacher and long-time home daycare provider (20+ years), and I am First Aid/CPR trained, a registered member of the CCPRN (Child Care Providers Resource Network), and I have many glowing references from Little Ducks families past and present.
* I am very warm, nurturing, safety conscious, fun-loving, conscientious, consistent, and firm. I provide a stable, predictable routine (which is proven to foster a sense of security in children), and I teach and expect polite manners, good behaviour, kindness to others, respect for others/pets/property/etc. I also teach and promote independence and encourage each child to practice and master self-care tasks such as dressing, healthy nutrition, toilet training, tidying up toys, etc. (all geared to age and ability, of course)
* The children spend their days learning and having fun, with a mixture of structured activities and free play. Hugs and cuddles are always available. :)
* I provide nutritious home-made meals and snacks, with lots of fresh fruits and veggies.
* Bright and sunny dedicated daycare space with bathroom and playroom/classroom on the main floor of our single family home.
* Large fenced and shaded side yard with toys, slides, climbers, playhouse, sand and water tables, etc.
* Several nearby parks and playgrounds.
* Play-based program with a mixture of structured activities and free play.
* Safe, fun, nurturing environment with a focus on learning respect, cooperative behavior, kindness, polite manners, social skills, independence, and positive self-esteem and confidence
* Daily circle time with themes, sing-alongs, ABC's, stories, games
* French is introduced to the children at a preschool level - basic words and phrases are taught via books, songs, and games
* Music, dancing, children's yoga
* Lots of books and story-time throughout the day
* Arts and crafts, sensory bins, play-doh
* Pre-school learning activities for kindergarten readiness
