I'm very excited and enthusiastic to have opened a daycare from my home in September 2012, affording me the opportunity to pursue my passion in early childhood education.
I follow strict government regulations regarding the number of children in my home daycare, which is reflected in the daily cost. I feel that maintaining the government regulated ratio of children to care provider is critical in providing a safe monitored environment for your child(ren).
My programs emphasize on fun, fostering creative imagination, social interaction and play based learning. Your child will learn key skills like sharing, patience, and integration through quality time interacting with other children. They will be engaged in plenty of learning activities, to develop/enhance fine and gross motor skills, as well as cognitive and social skills through both indoor and outdoor activities, while being encouraged to express themselves through their imagination and self expression.
I believe that each child learns and communicates in their own individual way; therefore each child will be acknowledged and accepted as an individual. They will be encouraged and motivated to learn at their own pace, while being provided with the tools necessary to develop and explore their individual interests.
I provide a semi-structured program, focusing on your child's individual needs, interest's and goals. I aim to provide an atmosphere that is not only caring, nurturing, loving and positive but also constructive to the needs of your child and their development.
My program contains individual activities, group activities, supervised free time, and supervised outdoor play. Many of these daily activities will focus on early learning skills such as letters, numbers, colours, and shapes. As well as manners, and independent skills, like dressing one-self etc.
I have many years of experience working with children, including as a pre-school program director for the City of Oshawa, where I learned and developed numerous skills. In addition I've gained invaluable experience working at two different daycare's focusing most directly on the infant, toddler, and preschool age groups.
