At Comfy Couch childcare, we do so much more than sit on the couch, although we do that sometimes, when we are reading stories or snuggling after nap time. I am an ECE, qualified, child caregiver, with over 20 years experience working with children from birth to teens. I have worked in community settings, group childcare centres, a nanny and preschool teacher. I have been running my own family daycare since 2003. I have 3 grown children of my own.
We spend most mornings on a field trip somewhere, either a community program, at the park, or an indoor playground if the weather is bad, or sometimes we just hang out in the back yard, where we grow our own veggies, dig in the dirt or the sandbox and play on the outdoor equipment, or go on a neighbourhood walk. We have creative activities such as playdough, cutting and sticking, painting, as well as pretend play, blocks, cars, farm animals, puzzles and books. We have a circle time every day, with songs, felt board activities and stories, which is a favourite time for all of the children.
We have 2 resident cats and a dog, who spend most of the day with us! |
