Welcome to my home daycare! :) I have had my own daycare for ten years now, and I love it as much now as I did when I began!
As a provincially trained and certified teacher (OCT), I am well-prepared to help your child succeed. I love for children to have the opportunities to learn at their fingertips, while still allowing them to learn at their own pace – no pressure, just praise when they succeed.
In my daycare, I strongly believe that free play is a fantastic way for all children to learn. I have a wide range of toys for all developmental stages which allow children to do this in a safe and comfortable environment. I feel that children will learn best with a combination of direct teaching (e.g. numbers, letters, shapes and colours) and subtle learning (e.g. showing your child how to build a tower while he/she is interested in playing with the blocks, stating the colour of the toy as I hand it to your child, coaching him/her to turn the blocks around to fit into the shape sorter).
I also feel that a huge part of my role as caregiver is to teach children how to be responsible individuals in society. This includes teaching them about sharing, kindness, responsibility, and independence. I adjust my approach and expectations based on the individual as the needs and capabilities of each child becomes apparent.
Children here enjoy a weekly theme approach. I bring in stories and crafts related to the theme, both of which bring delight to the children and their parents! You will get to take the daily crafts home with you to display at home and/or work. Children are very proud of the work they do, so they should be able to bring that pride with them wherever they go.
I have dedicated daycare spaces for both playing and sleeping. My home is Smoke-free and screen free for daycare hours. It is pet a friendly home (two cats, very docile). CPR training has been completed and a police check is available. Receipts are given with each payment. I can provide references as well as better pictures of my space upon request. |
