Description

Welcome to Ocean Cliff Treehouse Child Care!

I am Kim Fleury Jordan and I am a mother of two as well as a Child and Youth Care Worker with a Diploma from Grant McEwan University College. I started this Family Child Care business when my children were young (my youngest graduated from high school this year!) because we valued our family time together and our community and we recognize how lucky we are to have always had me at home and family close by to help when child care is needed. We want to be there for others and to share our home in this way.

I have always worked with children from the time that I could. I started as a babysitter who also planned birthday parties for the kids I babysat. I have worked at Camp Alexandra in Crescent Beach during the summer leading summer camps, I have worked for Surrey Parks, Recreation and Culture teaching kids everything from science and cooking to drawing and painting. I have been a Senior Camp Leader for groups of 55 kids over 2 summers. I have been a Child and Youth Care worker for children with behaviour and emotional challenges since 1994 with the Langley School District. I have training in working with Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I hold a valid First Aid Certificate and I am 3 credits away from a Fine Arts Certificate from Kwantlen University College (someday…!).

I also started an informal Preschool for my daughter and two of her friends when the Preschool they attended changed its format. This experience is the basis for my Child Care model in that I build my daily plan of activities to include circle time for stories, singing, calendar and sharing. We will have theme months and learn for example about seasons, weather and the natural world, holidays of the world (the more differences the better), nutrition and physical activity. The themes will be incorporated into as many activities as possible including art, songs, dramatic play centre, sharing and games and eating time.

I look forward to any ideas or input you may have to add to the experiences of your children. I believe in the adage that it takes a village to raise a child and I am honoured to be included as a member of this village with you.
