I am a graduated and Registered Early Childhood Educator from Sheridan College . My desire to provide a more evolved and professional service to children has driven me to continue my education. I have recently completed a Certification as a High Scope Preschool Curriculum Teacher. High Scope Curriculum uses a carefully designed process called "active participatory learning” (Learning through Play). As an Early Childhood Educator I have embraced this Curriculum because it not only helps young children excel in language and cognitive learning but also promotes independence, curiosity, decision-making, cooperation, creativity, and problem solving, all which I believe to be the fundamental skills that help determine success in later life.
I have been working as and Early Childhood Educator in a Home Daycare environment for the past twelve years (ages 1 -10 years old ).. Providing care and teaching young children has allowed me to encourage children to experience confidence, self-sufficiency, success and ultimately to realize and achieve their true potential. My own diverse background and life experiences have allowed me to appreciate our culturally rich and dynamic student and community population. I strongly believe that each child I have worked with has brought a wealth of life experiences and individual interests to my own personal life. By sharing my genuine care, educational background, additional qualifications, and life experiences, I hope to be able to become a member of a collaborative partnership or team which will be able to support children and their families with social, communication and daily living activities. I feel that I am experienced and exceptional at obtaining and applying information in the workplace; I know that this is a crucial skill when teaching, as I will be learning something new alongside the children every day.
I have a current First Aid and CPR Cetificate, a Police Check and Profesional references upon request.
My Home Daycare has a full Level Designed as a Daycare classroom which has been set up with different Interest Areas for the children (Carpet area, Book Area, House Area, Blocks area, Creative table).
I also provide Nutritious meals and snacks.
In addition to my working experiences as an ECE in the Home environment I have worked as a Respite Worker under the CDRCP (Child Development Resource Connection Peel) umbrella. I provided family/parent relief to a young boy with Autism in the Peel region. I am a strong advocate of the philosophy of Inclusion: all children have an equal opportunity for growing, developing and learning. I am also currently working as a Volunteer ECE in a Kindergarten classroom at one of our neighboring Catholic Schools. I assist the class teacher with daily routines, educational activities, songs, and playing and learning.
