Description

Location:

Located in Heart lake Brampton. North of Sandalwood Prkwy, South of Conservation Rd, East of Hwy 10

I spend my days interacting with the children, through playing games we learn to count, our colours, the alphabet. I provide a stimulating environment, age appropriate activities structured to the needs of the individual child. Through play the children will nurture and grow.

All children love the outdoors, fresh air, running, playing and exploring are all important for a developing child. We go out year round, have a large backyard, plenty of room to run; there are football, baseball, golf, soccer or ride’em toys. We take sand toys and head over to the nearby park, play on the swings and monkey bars, there are baby swings, small slide, large circular slide all on a bed of sand, we make sand castles or go for a walk around the lake and feed the ducks and geese. On very hot days we play in the wading pool, sprinkler, or have water fights.

In the winter we build snow castles, snowmen, snow forts or head for the nearest hill to go tobogganing.

My daycare is set up very well for children; we have all the equipment high chair, strollers, cots, and playpens. Lots of toys for indoor and outdoor play. There are Lego, fisher price people and houses, games, books, puzzles, cars, trucks, building blocks, we do crafts and paint, again appropriate to child’s age.

Experience

Experienced mom of 4, grandmother to 3. Daycare for 30 years with Region of Peel and Family Daycare Services.

Patience, my love for animals, children and the environment are virtues and evident in my home.

My days are spent with the children, not cleaning house or watching TV.

On discipline

Redirection, timeout, 2 minutes for 2 year old, 3 min for 3 year old etc Depending on the child's level of comprehension

On Toilet Training

Toilet training is better started at the age 2 and up. When the child is ready and able to communicate it will go smoothly and quickly. If the child is not ready and refuses/cries then it's of no use, leave it alone and try at a later date. Both parties involved in the child’s interests have to do their part, otherwise it becomes a waste of time, in other words both the daycare provider and the parents have to take active part in the toilet training process to make it work.

Lunches and Snacks

We have two snacks a day, crackers and cheese, apple slices, veges and dip, cookie, little muffins, peanut butter spread on banana, etc served with milk or juice. Lunch consists of hot dogs, Mac N cheese, soups, spaghetti and other noodle dishes, fries with chicken fingers, grilled cheese sandwiches, warm and cold veges, salads, milk or juice served with each meal, along with dessert such as yogurt, pudding, brownie, or an in season fruit.
