Jacquie's Have A Hoot Room prides itself in maintaining a low ratio to encourage play based learning and exploration. We love to sing, dance, create crafty masterpieces in the kitchen as well as in the playroom. We enjoy role playing and getting the sillies out, circle time, reading, story telling and free play. We make messy situations, then we learn to cooperatively clean it up. I offer healthy, yummy meals and snacks that kids love to eat. We love to play outdoors, visit parks and explore nature. We learn about everyday life by going on walks and enjoying each other's company through conversation and question asking. I encourage communication, questions and collaborative problem solving.
When Mother Nature prevents us from being outside we will enjoy using our imaginations to make the most of our day. I offer love and encouragement to allow the wee ones to feel safe, yet enough support to encourage and foster a child's own independence.
I provide a warm, loving, safe home with ample space for Have A Hoot Room kids to play and explore. The playroom is located in the basement, is well lit and accessible for wee ones. There are plenty of toys, books and stimulating art and activities that the wee ones love. When outdoors, we make the most of a small fenced space if we are not at a park. Should the wee one's want to explore, I open the gate to a large treed area, a great space to kick around a ball, run, or build snowmen! There is a very large table in the dining room where we all eat a healthy and tasty lunch together, mix up our kitchen creations or complete our crafty masterpieces. We enjoy using the whole house, and do not limit ourselves to the playroom.
I am a mother of 3 children. The youngest is 19 months. My 4.5 year old twin girls attend school full days, and my step-daughter is 13 yrs old. I have worked with or lived with children all my life. The Have A Hoot Room is new, only open since Jan. 2013. We have had several temporary care agreements since opening. I found I needed more joy in my life after leaving a very taxing job. What better way then to spend my day with children!!! I love kids. Each and every one of them from their own unique sense, character and abilities. Wee ones are a lot of fun and they teach me something new everyday. Every conversation is a learning opportunity, for both wee one and myself. Since opening, I've had the most fun I've ever had! In any job!!
I have a diploma in Social Services, and also work part time (some evenings and weekends) with the Youth Services Bureau. I have worked with difficult and/or high needs children, special needs (although not generalized) and volitile children. I have a lot of patience, a lot of love, and a lot of energy. I have my First Aid/CPR.
I prefer to work with families, so with respects to transitioning, potty training, dropping in for a hug from your child, feedback, financial concerns.... nothing needs to be off the table. Let's approach your needs and work together to come up with a solution that will benefit us both, including, and especially your child so that we can have an amazing working relationship.
