Hi my name is Kathryn and I am an Ontario certified teacher and mother of 3. In the past I have been a visual arts teacher as well as taught a high school culinary program that was largely populated with at-risk youth and students with various special needs designations. I loved teaching but while raising my young children I have developed a passion for working with the wee ones as opposed to high school students.
I am beginning a before and after school care program serving Elgin Street Public School and Christ the King Catholic School. My house has a medium sized, fully fenced yard, is on the end of a court, and is pet and smoke free.
I am Foodsafe Certified and am in the process of upgrading my CPR certification.
Mornings will be low-key and will include a morning snack for children who arrive early enough. Children will play boardgames, read, or enjoy imaginative play before leaving to go to school.
Afternoons will include a walk home and outdoor play when the weather is nice. We will spend time at the table enjoying a snack and working on homework for those who have it. Children with no homework will work on artwork or read together. Any television will be educational and watched sparingly.
Our house relies on reasonable expectations, time-outs (not in isolation), using our words, coaching through emotions, keeping our hands to ourselves, and striving to "be the better person" to keep the peace and cultivate personal growth in the children.
