At B.E.E. Day home, children explore their environment through group activities, themed activities, directed play and free play. The day home is located in a fully finished basement and has vast amounts of room for the children to engage in the centers. Each center hosts a variety of toys for various age groups to encourage the vocabulary and content of the theme. Centers include: dramatic play, block play, gross motor with a climber, science and math center, music center, sensory and water play, literacy center, fine motor center as well as a large pie shaped backyard with climbers, cars and gardens. In the summer months, we pick berries and tend to the garden which are incorporated into the healthy snacks and meals prepared for the children with the children.
Each day, we engage in a variety of activities to encourage their growth and development. Fine motor activities are done daily and may include some form of craft, cutting, coloring or other paper based activities. We go outside daily, unless the weather is too cold to go out.
I have been involved in childcare for over 20 years and have had a day home for more than 16 years. I have had experience with children with no English background, food restrictions and learning disabilities.
We have circle time daily where we talk about the theme, learn new songs and vocabulary for the theme and take part in group games and activities. The themes are based on the children's demonstrated interest and promote further discovery for the theme through both the centers and activities. In sum, I |
