ABOUT ME:
I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and Mom to my 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter. I also have an honors BA in Studio Art and a teachable in English.
I have work experience in all children's ages ranging from infant to 12 years. I have worked for the YMCA for 2 years as an Early Childhood Assistant Educator with experience in Preschool, Kindergarten and School Age. Prior to perusing Early Childhood Education, I worked in the nutrition field for 6 years and continue to be a health enthusiast.
ABOUT MY DAYCARE:
I am offering Before and After School Care from St. Christopher Catholic School and P.A. days based on demand.
The daycare is located on both the main level and finished basement. I have a mature backyard with lots of shade, a deck and gardens. I have a large child-friendly play structure, gravel pit and riding toys. A small wading pool will be used in the summer time as well as water-play experiences. I am located 100 meters from Thornton Park, 200 meters from Dundee Park and nature trails.
My program will include the provision of a homemade lunch and healthy snacks throughout the day.
I am experienced in providing an open-ended Emergent Curriculum that allows children to learn through play and is based on their own interests. I will encourage experiences through arts and crafts, sensory exploration, language development through circle time, reading books, finger plays and singing songs. I will also provide math and science experiences that relate to their interests. Free time will be promoted and children will have the opportunity to choose to play with a variety of toys and materials. These opportunities will be flexible to enjoy outdoors as well.
Admission conditions
I have a pet friendly home with a cat and a dog, both are up to date with their vaccinations and are wonderful around babies/children. I ask that both pets are treated with respect. I am an advocate for outdoor play and incorporate all season play experiences.
I transport school aged children to the St Christopher bus stop for before and after school care.
