I chose the term 'holistic' for the name of my day home because children can be very complex, and caring for them requires looking at the big picture and not just pieces of the whole. The minds and bodies of children need to be nourished from a very young age in order for them to grow into healthy, compassionate human beings who are able to take on all that life throws their way.
At Holistic Kids of Mahogany we are able to accomplish this by following a few basic principles:
1.Nourish the body with wholesome organic home cooked meals and lots of physical activity.
2.Enhance the mind with educational activities that challenge without setting expectations beyond reach.
3.Encourage imagination with lots of free play and open conversation.
4.Open the heart with daily discussions about gratitude and compassion for ourselves, our friends and our world.
5.Foster independence by practicing a philosophy of self-regulation.
