Hello families.
I am a RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator), and I have been operating my licensed home daycare since 2014. My husband, who is also a RECE with a Bachelor in Developmental Psychology, works as my alternative childcare provider and has always been involved in my work with children, planning activities for them and observing each child’s developmental and learning process. We both hold a valid Standard First Aid with CPR C + AED training and have all our immunizations and vulnerable police record checks up to date. We are fluent in both English and Spanish.
Here is a little insight of my program.
Little Angels Home Daycare offers high-quality childcare in a safe, welcoming, loving, nurturing, and inclusive environment to all children and their families. The daycare setting occupies the entire main floor of a home that is smoke, pet, and TV-free. I use the pedagogical document “How Does Learning Happen?” to guide my practice, as well as the ELECT (Early learning for every child today) framework document published by the government of Ontario and the Ministry of Education.
I strongly believe that children construct their own knowledge by actively exploring the environment around them, participating in meaningful activities and experiences, and engaging in social interactions. Thus, every day at Little Angels Home Daycare, I nurture children’s healthy development and well-being by providing a balance between physical active play, rest, and quiet time, and by responding to the individual needs, strengths, and interests of the children. Also, by doing daily observations on each child and the group, I plan and implement a great variety of activities that promote the children’s physical, emotional, language, cognitive and social development in a play-based learning environment. Children are allowed to learn by doing activities independently, or in company of others, and I always encourage them to observe, experiment, communicate and problem-solve through their free-play.
The main focus of my program is to prepare children for their first year of Kindergarten while helping them to establish positive and respectful relationships with their peers, supporting the development of their social and emotional skills, and fostering their self-regulation and independence skills. For this, I have created a daily schedule, flexible enough, that supports the children’s natural curiosity, while at the same time offering some consistent routines and transitions that provide children with opportunities to increase their independence, autonomy, and capacity of self-care.
Likewise, I also believe that children are more willing to learn if they feel safe and confident in their environment, and if they have developed a secure attachment with their educators. For that reason, I help children forming secure relationships with me by responding attentively to their verbal and non-verbal communication, connecting with them, recognizing their individual characteristics, and understanding them through their family’s point of view. Also, I always try to have an open communication with families in a variety of ways; for example, by holding daily conversations during drop off/pick up time, establishing regular meetings, exchanging e-mails and phone calls, among others.
Additionally, I believe that physical active play and exploration in natural outdoor spaces and playgrounds brings a lot of benefits to the cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being of the children, so for that reason, I try to spend most of our days being outdoors, weather permitting. I also plan and provide nutritious meals and snacks, and I like sharing the lunch/snack menu with families every six weeks in advance. I would provide you with a menu sample on the day of the interview, and we can discuss if this fits your child’s dietary needs.
I am affiliated with the licensed home childcare agency Andrew Fleck; therefore, families have access to the fee reduction program (CWELCC), which results in a daily fee of $25.99.
If you would like to hear a little bit more about my program, do not hesitate to contact me. I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
Leidy, RECE |
