At the Big Comfy House Day Care we focus on your child's emotional, social, intellectual and physical development while being in a home-like environment. The Big Comfy House will be your child's home away from home helping your child make the perfect transition from the home environment to primary school. We have a program that models preschool practices by implementing circle times with felt stories and discussions, age appropriate arts and crafts, and math and science activities. The program runs on a theme basis and every few weeks a new theme is presented. The themes are picked depending on the seasons, weather changes and are also often influenced by the interests of the children at the centre. To ensure that your child has equal opportunity for physical development we do music and movement as well as weather permitted outdoor play. The Big Comfy House is nearby two parks, Kiyo Park and Bear Creek Park, the children are often taken on walks on sunny days where they have the opportunity to learn about and be around nature. Another focus at the Big Comfy House Daycare is discipline and behaviour, we believe that Implementing discipline at an early age is essential to a child’s future successes. Waiting too long makes it difficult for the child to adopt discipline as their personality and behaviour patterns have further developed. Just as it’s much easier to introduce a new language to a child rather than an adult, discipline is the same way. Therefore, it is in the child’s best interest to be introduced to discipline as early in their lives as possible. Discipline and good behaviour is introduced to your child at our center by regular routines, ground rules and lessons on manners, good behaviour, etc. Also, throughout the year we have themes such as, sharing, friendship, feelings and manners which allow children to learn and have fun at the same time.
Parents are provided the opportunity to set up individual goals for their child with the caregiver if they wish. Appropriate steps will be taken place to help your child progress whether it may be intellectually, emotionally, physically, or socially. If parents have these concerns they are free to address this with the caregiver. We have your child's best interest at heart. |
