Apple Sprouts Daycare follows a play-based philosophy. We have borrowed some of the best elements of respected Child care models (Waldorf for their practical hands on skills, Montessori for their excellent learning tools and Emilia Reggio for their loose parts and child directed learning).
We focus on practical, hands-on activities and creative play.
We are always flexible based on what each child needs.
I am a very kind and nurturing person and I have always had a special gift of being able to understand and connect with children. Early in a child's life, very important development stages are occurring. I will work one on one with each child to learn about each child's individual needs. I believe it is important to understand how unique each child's learning style/preference is.
Outdoor time is something I value very much for the children and I love to take advantage of our highly spacious backyard. We also do various gross motor activities such as yoga, dancing and active games.
Children learn in everyday life activities at home and in day care. I
will give children opportunities to be involved in everyday activities such as making their own cots up and setting up the table.
An important role in daycare is to prepare children to enter Kindergarten. I will design my curriculum to best prepare a child for this milestone, including name recognition (first and last), alphabet and letter sound familiarity, number recognition, simple math skills, practice writing, shape and color recognition, familiarity with print, self-help skills, (toileting and dressing), comparison words, opposites, and parts of the body as well as social and science skills.
Play is important in a child’s learning. I will offer a lot of opportunities for play based learning, such as puzzles, building blocks, dramatic play, dress up, manipulative games such as lace up cards, etc.
Literacy is an important part of a child’s learning. I will provide books and read to and with children every day.
Music and movement is also an important part of learning. We will engage in music, using songs, cd’s and instruments, as well as dance and action activity every day, as part of our program.
Every person has the potential for creativity. I will find as many ways to bring this out in your child as I am able, through organized and free crafting, play dough, painting, coloring, cooking, dress up, dramatic play, gardening, snow play, story making, chalkboard, etc. |

We do have 2 indoor/outdoor cats. They will be around occasionally during operating hours so if there are any allergies I would just keep that in mind.
Parents are required to provide a lunch and 2 snacks for their child when under our care. We also require parents to bring diapers/wipes (if not potty trained yet), a change of clothes and a blanket for nap time. |
