Welcome to Little Pumpkins Family Childcare. We are located in the beautiful Heritage Mountain area surrounded by lovely parks, lakes and forests. Little Pumpkins Family Childcare has been in operation for 17 years.
We offer a program that is play-focused learning, together with a low child-caregiver ratio and continuity of care that is so important for attachment. Children need play-based learning to develop a foundation for their future academics. Play is important; it feeds our intellect as much as our imagination, it builds knowledge as much as empathy. It collects neurons, and it connects ideas. At Little Pumpkins Family Childcare we are committed to allowing children to play that is child-led, active learning. Children are free to explore along a creek, pick up pine cones on a forest walk and chase butterflies, all without being rushed. Our program is based on the Reggio Emelia philosophy - respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment for children.
We also value strong parent/teacher relationships and we do our utmost to communicate frequently; we encourage questions pertaining to your child, offer ideas and we want parents to make suggestions at any time. Parents are kept informed of program activities, whether through daily verbal contact and through a monthly newsletter containing photos and complete details of all activities and learning.
We welcome diversity, share skills, interests and family traditions.
We are committed to teaching our children kindness, empathy and values through discussions during small group time, puppet shows and modeling.
Our program offers both Music and French lessons held weekly, together with both a Winter and Summer Concert where the children and the parents are celebrated with an evening of fun and good food.
We also offer before and after school care with transportation to and from Heritage Mountain Elementary School only.
Little Pumpkins family childcare is open Monday-Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm. We are closed on all statutory holidays, the month of August (no payment required for August), and a week during Christmas and Spring Break.
We are also a strong believer in health and good nutrition; two snacks are served daily that include a wide variety of fresh wholesome foods.
I have completed the Early Childhood Education program in 2014, First Aid, Food Safe, Member of the CCRR, Executive member of the Greater Coquitlam Family Daycare Society, Executive member of Old Orchard Pleasantside Play Pals. |
