Devoted mother of two young children, currently on leave from teaching, offering full-time day care for one child age two or older, from September 2015 until the end of August 2016 (~12 months).
I am a fully qualified Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with many years of teaching and child care experience. I have been at home with my two children for three years, and my four-year-old son will be starting kindergarten this September. At that time, I will be offering day care for one child, in addition to caring for my own two-year-old daughter (and my son before/after school) until I return to teaching in September 2016. For most of the day throughout the school year I will be caring for only your child and my daughter. Your child will receive my care and attention in a manner that cannot be matched in child care settings where the adult-child ratio is one to five.
Child care will be provided in my home (here in Bowmanville) which is spacious, bright, clean, and has a large playroom full of toys as well as a separate craft area. Homemade meals and snacks will be provided in my kitchen, and naps, if appropriate, will take place in my upstairs spare bedroom. My home is located directly opposite a large park with a splash pad, and is also within short walking distance of several other parks.
I maintain a relaxed routine which includes free play, organized games, crafts, painting, baking, reading, singing, dancing, and more. I aim for a minimum of two hours of outdoor play daily when the weather is nice. We also regularly visit the library, Newcastle swimming pool, and the Bowmanville Zoo. My goal is always to provide children with opportunities to actively explore and learn, all while having fun.
I practice attachment parenting, providing unlimited comfort and support to ensure that children feel safe and secure. I firmly enforce limits with patience and kindness, redirecting behavior as needed, with an emphasis on building social skills, self-confidence and emotional awareness.
A few other details:
-$40 per day. Tax receipts provided.
-Police check and CPR qualifications held.
-One very friendly (and fully vaccinated) cat lives with us and loves to join in with our games.
