Hi, my name is Teryn. I am a mother to two amazing boys, ages 3 and 1. Before becoming a mother and being amazed by the joys of raising a child, I had been around kids my whole life. I started out babysitting as a young teenager. I combined my passion for working with kids and my interest in human behaviour in my quest for a higher education. I attained a psychology degree from the University of Guelph with a focus on developmental psychology. I have done placements within schools working with children that have learning disabilities and teaching school aged children about healthy relationships (anti-bullying). I have always enjoyed being a role model and mentor for kids.
Leaving your baby in daycare, especially for first-time moms, can be filled with anxiety and stress. I had to use daycare with my oldest son briefly and it was very difficult for me. What made it easier was that my daycare provider was open and honest with texted pictures and daily reports. I strive to be the same way.
I provide a clean play-based daycare that feels like home. Each day I follow a routine but I like to switch up the daily activities to keep children engaged and curious. In the warmer season I like to spend lots of time outside with the kids. I have a playroom that opens up to a walk-out backyard with a sandbox, slide, water table and mini basketball net. I also have another play area on the main floor beside the kitchen so that I can keep an eye on the kids during lunch/snack prep (2 healthy snacks and lunch everyday). I have many toys for babies and pre-school aged children including ride-on toys. I also have puzzles, books and craft materials to practice fine-motor skills. I have access to a mini park within the complex and a full-sized park up the street beside a school. Music is also incorporated into play with songs and rhyming (songs learned from programs at the Ontario Early Years Centre).
If you visited or if you're using a childcare provider found on DaycareBear, do not hesitate to leave a review. This will most certainly help other parents!
