I am a dedicated, kind, caring Early Childhood Educator providing unlicensed home care located in East York.
I am First Aid/CPR Certified, have a valid PRC and have both my diploma and degree in Early Childhood from George Brown College and Ryerson University.
I have two children of my own, only one counts in my ratio, we live in a pet and smoke free environment, have a large backyard, live close to two different parks, offer healthy, home cooked meals and snacks and I follow an emergent curriculum. This means I offer play based learning, based on the childrens interests, have child centered activities as well as teacher led experiences and circle time. Through play and a wide range of experiences the children develop skills in all areas such as cognitive, social, emotional, language/literacy and physical - gross/fine motor.
We have a schedule but can be flexible based on the children's needs. Our schedule includes free exploration/play in all areas, breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, circle time, arts/sensory experiences, outdoor play and rest period(s).
I have worked in the field for over 8 years, in licensed care for WoodGreen for my first 4 years and now have run a home care for the past 4 years. I am very comfortable working with children of all ages, confident in my behavioral guidance strategies, coping with a wide range of physical and emotional needs and am able to deal with stressful situations in a very calm manner.
I have worked with children in childcare, City of Toronto Swim Programs/Camps, Scouting, a Youth Group, East York Hockey/Figure Skating Club and through other volunteer experiences with my son's school and activities. I have great references available upon request! |
