Roots n’ Shoots is a Government Approved & Accredited DayHome Riverbend.
At Roots n’ Shoots I pride myself on providing an environment where children have fun and learn while knowing that they are loved, safe, respected, and where their individuality is celebrated!
Communication with parents is a priority for me. I believe that we work as a team within your child’s life.
Activities here are fun and age appropriate. Everything from tea parties to making mud pies! We have a lot of fun and are always learning at the same time!
The daily routine provides structure and balance while still allowing room for spontaneity and flexibility of activities.
My home is bright, clean, pet friendly (we have 2 sweet dogs), and smoke-free. I have play areas upstairs and downstairs, as well as a large fenced back yard with plenty for the kids to do year round. During the school year we make daily trips to and from the school, where we stay after school to play and make friends.
Outside time is a priority. We are outside every day. Everyone is happier and healthier when they get time in the great outdoors!
TV is occasional and limited.
Activities include:
• weekly field trips (Zoo, Spark, Playgrounds, Splash parks etc.)
• dramatic play
• stories & songs
• games
• cooking & baking
• arts & crafts
• sensory activities
• theme weeks/days
• pre-school curriculum activities
I provide breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks – following the Canada Food Guide.
I have successfully been running my approved and accredited DayHome since 2011. I have several years of child care experience in my home as well as in other’s homes. I was a Special Education Teaching Assistant prior to having my first child. I have my Diploma in Disability Studies and am a qualified Child Development Worker. I have a current clear Police Vulnerable Sectors Search & Child Welfare check, as well current Child Care CPR/First Aid. I am fully insured to be running a DayHome.
Some of the benefits to choosing registered child care include back-up care when needed, monitoring by agency staff to ensure quality care, and subsidy for those who qualify.
Contact me today to set up a time to view my DayHome and discuss your childcare needs.

In order to provide families with a consistent schedule - no surprise/seemingly random days closed - I close 1 Friday every month. I schedule the entire calendar year worth of dates in January and hand them out to all families so that they can plan accordingly. |
