Smiling Feet Daycare. Where children are encourage to reach their full potential.
We are a play based home daycare.
Through play children learn how to share, to take turns, to resolve conflicts, to make decisions, to be assertive and to work in groups. Play teaches children not only respect for themselves but for others. Children learn kindness, self confidence, they learn about their feelings. Through play children can discover their world.
“Play, Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul”.
-Christopher Vaughan
Smiling Feet Daycare uses some of the Montessori method of learning.
Children learn letters, numbers, shapes, and colours. They are introduced to seasons months and time all while playing. They are introduced to simple problems while playing. Children can expect to spend a great deal of time with books. Smiling Feet daycare have an extensive library of fun and engaging books for kids. We enjoying reading together. Children are taught respect for the environment as well as animals. They are constantly learning about their world. Children are also taught patience, kindness, cooperation, respect for themselves as well as others.
When children turn 3 years old they transition to a Pre-School program. From 9am to 2pm, there is a greater emphasis on reading, writing & math. Children start a writing journal. Their play is more structured with puzzles, blocks, games and puppets. There are plenty of toys for children during free play.
Children are outside 2 hours a day. 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon (depending on weather).
Smiling Feet has a very special friend that spends the day with us. His name is Brody and he is a blond 4 year old cockapoo (they are extremely good with kids, hypoallergenic and non-shedding). Brody enjoys listening to stories and playing, he especially enjoys being outside.
Parents receive monthly calendars. This gives parents an idea as to what their Children are learning. Quarterly Progress reports are also sent home.
Parents receive quarterly menus. Smiling Feet provides morning snack, hot lunch and an afternoon snack. Smiling Feet Daycare follows the Canadian food guide to healthy eating.
Vulnerable sector screening completed, as will as CPR certified. Brody is up-to-date and current on vaccines and Rabbles Shots. All this is posted in the daycare for parents to see. First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguishers are visible.

Children are like wet cement, whatever falls on them leaves an impression. -Haim Ginott |
