My day home is a fun, safe, small family like environment for children to spend their days while you are working or attending school in the community of Southwood, just off of Macleod Trail between Anderson and Southland Drive. My home is within a 5 minute walk of the Anderson LRT.
I believe in caring for all the children as if they were my own, or how I would want someone to care for my children. I believe each child is unique and try to encourage the children to be proud of their differences. I teach the children to think for themselves and encourage them to solve their own problems but I am always close at hand to help. I believe children learn a lot from social interaction and playing with children of different ages. This is one of the reasons I love having a day home and prefer multi aged care. Through my early childhood education studies I have learned a lot about emergent curriculum (Reggio Emilia) and have incorporated this learn through play, child initiated curriculum into our everyday routine. We spend a lot of time outdoors and enjoy being active!
My day home is Alberta Approved and as such I follow all of the regulations put out by the Alberta government and my agency, Davar Child Care Society.
I am currently enrolled in part time online learning to earn my Early Childhood Education Certification, level 2. I will complete this course before the end of 2016. In May of 2016 I won two awards through Bow Valley College:
The first award was The School of Community Studies and Creative Technologies Humanitarian Award "for demonstrating the ideals of compassion and concern for others."
The second award was The School of Community Studies and Creative Technologies Career Award "for demonstrating superior achievement and a positive educational attitude"
