Wild Oaks is a family owned, nature- and play- based childcare centre in Maple Ridge, B.C. Our centre is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy: we are confident that all children hold within them wonder, curiousity, intelligence, love, delight and wisdom beyond measure. We believe in children and their ability to search out knowledge through their own investigations. We value each child as an individual and aim to support their interests, needs and creative expression, nurturing their strengths and providing a supportive environment for them to conquer new challenges and gain new skills. We believe in listening to children, following their lead and encouraging discovery and learning through art and play. The children at Wild Oaks, the mentor and the parents are collectively a whole that is greater than the sum of it's parts.
At Wild Oaks, we aim to connect children with nature, spending as much time outdoors as possible (rain or shine) in our beautiful fenced backyard, at three wonderful parks in our family-oriented neighbourhood and at nature preserves in the area. When inside, we explore indoor gardening, natural toys and plenty of nature-based activities to encourage a child's 100 languages of expression. For arts and crafts, we provide "nature's paintbrushes" and other natural items to create with, and we always have a nature-based discovery centre where the children can explore the beautiful toys mother earth provides us, such as stones, pinecones, twigs and leaves. We offer a safe, warm, and interesting environment, equipped with high quality wooden and natural toys, arts and crafts, and a complimentary monthly 'Usborne Books' book club. Your child will be in the care of a certified Early Childhood Educator (and Mom) with a big heart, and a passion for attachment-based childcare.
