Little Monkeys Playhouse is a private dayhome in the community of Luxstone, which offers quick and easy access to Yankee Valley Blvd annd Highway 2.

I provide a comfortable, loving environment, with a focus on Attachment Parenting values (gentle parenting, no CIO, no timeouts, etc).

Healthy, wholesome, home-cooked meals and snacks are provided. We function on family-style meal/snack times, meaning your child will be offered a variety of options to choose from, ensuring they are eating at each meal. This methodology cuts down on food-waste and ensures your child that there will be something they enjoy.

Your child will learn the importance of working within a family unit and setting as all meal and snack times will include age-appropriate tasks for each walking child, such as helping to set the table, bringing dirty dishes to sink, assisting with meal prep (spinning salad, mixing ingredients in a bowl, etc).

Your child will experience a daily routine that will include plenty of indoor and outdoor free play, where within that time we will explore various activities such as Story Time, Music & Movement, Craft Time, sports, etc. Participation in these activities is not enforced as this gives your child the freedom of choice that every child needs to learn important life skills.

I believe children are natural learners and that they require very little encouragement to acquire new knowledge or skills. With that in mind, educational aspects are gently incorporated into all activities, in a child-led format. Every child will be encouraged to pursue their interests based on skill-level, regardless of age. They will be provided with and exposed to many opportunities to learn all the basics of numbers, letters, pre-writing, writing, pre-reading, and reading, among others.

Indoor play time and learning will take place in a very large, bright, open-concept playroom where children will have age-appropriate access to a vast array of toys and developmental activities.

Outdoor play time will occur either in the fully-gated and secure backyard or in the nearby playgrounds, in walking distance. All outdoor play is weather permitting but will also take into consideration the fun aspects of freshly fallen snow in winter, puddle jumping in the rain in spring, soaking in the warm sunshine in summer, and playing in fallen leaves in fall.

On days that the weather completely prevents us from venturing outside, we will take advantage of the large space the playroom has to participate in indoor physical activities such as yoga for children or impromptu dance parties.

I am committed to your child's happiness. I truly feel that your child's personality, whether they are introverted or extroverted, and the dynamic they have with their peers are huge factors in how they perceive their day to have gone. Ensuring that there are a wide-variety of activities available, either simultaneously or separately, will contribute significantly to their happiness.

It is important to me that you know your child is happy and engaged throughout the day. With your permission, I will take pictures of your child throughout the day for the sole purpose of sharing them with you by text or email at the end of each day. You can opt out of this if you choose simply by indicating so on the registration package.

It is my belief that sleep habits are the choice of the parents, therefore I do not enforce naptimes, if you decide your child is done with them. My goal is not to make your evenings more difficult just so I can have 1-2 hours of child-free time while everyone naps. I believe in doing what is best for the child and the family. If/when the time comes that your child no longer needs a nap during the day, we will work together to make the transition. For the children who will not partake in naps, they will be provided with Quiet Time activities such as colouring and puzzles, being monitored by baby-cam while I put those who nap down to sleep in the gentle way of Attachment Parenting, but also in the way that works for the child. Once I am back with those who don't nap, we will continue with Quiet Time activities, but also participate in quiet physical activities such as yoga and meditation.

I believe it is up to the child and family to decide when this is best to pursue. There is no magical age and therefore I will work with you, whenever you and your child are both ready, to make this huge developmental milestone as smooth as possible.

I am the mother to one very amazing little 4 year-old son. I have been self-employed in primarily administrative and financial capacities since 2009, but my true passion is as a mother and caregiver. I have done extensive reading and research in the field of baby and child emotional and mental growth and development, from a personal-interest perspective. Though I have much experience and many references as a caregiver to other children, we are fairly new to the Airdrie community and only recently has my husband's work schedule allowed for me to happily take on the tremendous opportunity of providing a safe, loving home for other children on a regular basis. My other interests lie in writing, and in the maternity and birth world where I am the President for MCAN (MaternityCare Consumers of Alberta Network), as well as the founder of the online support group VBAC Canada. Though I am the primary care provider for Little Monkeys Playhouse, my husband and I have both received the necessary and appropriate RCMP clearances, as well as Certificates in Standard Childcare First Aid and CPR.

My home is also the home to our family's fur-baby Atlas, a gentle, loving Great Dane. However for everyone's comfort and enjoyment, he does not have access to the playroom, backyard (unsupervised) or naproom.

My home is smoke-,alcohol-, and drug-free at all times.
