My name is Lindsay Carlson and I am a certified Ontario Teacher (OCT). I was trained at the Junior / Intermediate level with a specialty in Visual Arts, but ALL my post degree (since 2010) work has been with toddlers and babies, so this was a natural move for me. My place is not big, but starting July 1st, I will have two small dedicated rooms for my unlicensed daycare, as well as my kitchen.
For those who work downtown, there is FREE STREET PARKING during the day, and I am one easy bike, bus or subway ride away from everything.
I focus a lot on art and music (they can bang on the pots and pans with me!), and most of the games and activities I engage in have an educational component. We learn through play, exploring, re-imagining and recycling, and through engaging with those who are invested in expanding our knowledge base - I feel all of this is part of my teaching philosophy. While it is a different pace for babies, if there is something you would like to focus on, I would be more than happy to try and expand on that in my program if I can. My program will be theme based by week.
I am walking distance to:
- Christie Pits
- Art Eggleton Park and Playground (fantastic park!)
- Shaw St and Gladstone libraries
- Artscape Youngplace, and many interesting places downtown.
I have a front yard/garden we will spend time in when the weather is nice. I also have a lot of art supplies/drawing space (chalkboard walls) for those who like to express themselves that way. |

This is an unlicensed daycare, so unfortunately subsidies are not available at this time.
This is currently NOT a nut-free zone, but I do my best to accommodate allergies and food restrictions. I have experience with nut, gluten (celiac), egg and grape allergies. I can also accommodate vegan diets.
We have a cat! He's super friendly with the little ones, but pretty much stays out of the way when they are around. |
