Welcome to my Home Daycare. My name is Miranda Montague. I am a mother of two, Kyleigh and Brady, and a professional childcare provider with 15 years experience. I am a qualified Early Childhood Educator. I have worked in both paid and volunteer capacities, in the field of families and children, since graduating from my studies in ECE at Niagara College, as well as many capacities during and prior to this education.
As a childcare provider, my goal is to provide a safe and happy place where children can learn and grow physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially at their own pace. I give the children in my care opportunities to learn in a family-like setting with mixed age groups, where they can feel safe and loved, and can begin to build a positive self image. Your child will receive quality personal and individualized care in a warm and loving smoke and pet free home (daycare is 1100 sq.ft). Your child will have the opportunity to gain practice in language, fine motor, large motor and self-help skills.
I believe that all children deserve an opportunity to be part of a safe, positive environment that promotes learning, which in turn enhances their level of development. Through these experiences the children will be exposed to a variety of rich, constructive play materials that promote curiosity, initiative and independence as well as fostering interaction and respect for others.
I recognize the need to be flexible and responsive to children’s needs and interest levels, adapting and changing the program whenever necessary to suit the children’s interests; letting them lead the way while keeping them safe and secure. I will use real experiences as the basis for learning, letting this lead the way down a path towards independence, responsibility, and self worth.
Children will be provided a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities and learning materials, allowing children to discover any and all opportunities to explore their own interests and actively investigate their world. A balance of structured activities and free play are presented, allowing children of varying ages to interact in a relaxed and stimulating environment. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided.
I recognize the importance of the family in developing and maintaining an effective partnership. A co-operative relationship between the teacher, parent, and child is necessary to ensure quality in the learning process.
I have taken a strong interest in the welfare of children and families, and have been an advocate for quality childcare in the community as well as the childcare field. I have experience in many different aspects of childcare from family resource and support, to preschool programming, full-time childcare (of all ages), and administration of programs and centers.
I understand the needs of parents, being a parent myself, and I try to provide a day care situation that I would want my own children to be a part of if I were still working outside the home.
