At ABBA’s Early Learning and Care Institute, we follow the interests of the children during our engagements and use the ‘How Does Learning Happen’ approach as well as the Early Learning Framework when planning and implementing daily activities. This is to ensure that all areas of development (cognitive, language & literacy, social, emotional and physical) in each individual child are enriched, enhanced and extended.
Because each child is unique and their needs differ, they are engaged in daily activities at their individual paces. All outcomes of the activities are celebrated as the focus is on the process by which the activities are engaged and not the final product. Teachers also work in partnership with parents when planning and preparing teacher led activities for each individual child as our vision is that partnering with parents will result in each child having the best possible experience while at the centre.
Daily interactions with the children includes both indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) explorations. During daily outdoor explorations, each group is outside for a maximum 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon.
We offer morning and afternoon snacks and a warm lunch each day to the children. The children are introduced to a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables along with milk and/or water with each meal serving.
