At Yellow Door Daycare, kids have the opportunity to explore, play, and learn in a safe, loving, and comforting space. Joanne will actively respond to their interests, inquiries and needs. Expect backyard play and regular neighbourhood outings, as well as nutritious, homemade food.
Enjoyable and diverse structured activities include age-appropriate sensory exploration, building, crafting, songs and games, role playing, and cooperative gross motor games.
Kids are given clear, consistent, and positive guidance; help naming and navigating their feelings and needs; and attention and comfort when needed.
Joanne is a mother of two (one in SK and one 16-month old); with Mothercraft Home-Based Childcare Training, Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR, a clean criminal record check, and up-to-date immunizations. References available.
Since 1992 she has enjoyed working and volunteering with kids, offering childcare, arts programming, song circles, and as a childrens' games facilitator. Her professional background is primarily as a journalist. Elle parle français aussi.
The space is a family home with a semi-finished basement on a quiet one-way street and set up with young children in mind.
In addition to her own children (born in 2013 and August 2017) Joanne cares for two school-aged kids on a part-time basis. Yellow Door Daycare opened its doors in September 2018.
