Description

I am a kind and compassionate caregiver who not only enjoys being around children, but also enjoys actively engaging with them through play, activities and adventures. I have over 15 years of experience and exceptional references from the families I've worked with. I provide a unique offering in the form of a small home daycare with the benefits of a family style approach to raising children. As such, while I operate out of my own home (near Queen & Wineva), I limit the number of kids I care for and function more along the lines of a nanny share. I only accept families who live in close proximity to help encourage a long term relationship for my care. Along with many local outings, bike rides and playdates, I take the kids to scheduled programs which I'll help book and organize with your input (such as music/dance/art/swimming). Day outings with my vehicle around the GTA are also common, visiting the Zoo, Wonderland, ROM, Aquarium, Science Centre and more, including outdoor activities and parks. I love heading out on adventures and exposing the kids to all of the wonderful things Ontario has to offer.

I approach childcare with the perspective that our world is a place for children to explore and enjoy without too much structure. We would have both busy days and lazy days during which time I'll fill their early years with a wide variety of experiences that are so valuable to growing minds. I like the freedom to pick activities and outings based on the season, weather, and what is of particular interest to them at that point in their childhood. Education takes place daily in everything we do, where I promote learning through hands on play and discovery combined with conversations about the activities taking place. I believe kids should be able to grow and develop at their own pace throughout which time I help build their confidence, interests and abilities. I prefer not to rush children into achieving adult determined milestones and avoid using societal expectations as a guideline for this. As such, I am in no hurry for kids to lose their comfort items and take a consciously relaxed approach to growing out of soothers, bottles, diapers, etc. Obviously it works best if your family shares in these philosophies. I develop deep bonds with children I care for and aim to find families who will continue with my care until school starts.

I started providing childcare after our first daughter was born and have provided care for many families in the 15 years since. I have first aid training, a driver's license abstract and a police vulnerable sector record check available. I regularly see the families that I've provided care for in the past and they will be happy to speak about my services. Since most children start once maternity leave is finished, I'm certainly accustomed to beginning with infants from 10 to 12 months old, but will happily accept younger and older too.

I offer a 10 hour window between 8am and 6pm for an all-inclusive daily rate of $150 per child. This includes everything needed to provide exceptional care. For a family with one child, this should offer some savings over a traditional nanny along the lines of a nanny share. The children will be my entire focus and I provide plenty of extra value in the experiences and outings we take. Evening and overnight care is also available for the kids I regularly care for.

If you like the idea of a down-to-earth, personalized and adventurous childhood for your kids, we would likely work well together. Be sure to reach out if this sounds of interest!
