At Little Hedgehog’s Home Daycare, my goal is to provide your child with a supportive and loving environment where they can play and learn with ease. I have put together the framework for my daycare based on my own experiences with my own two children, first as a stay-at-home mom and then with my daughter at the German International School Toronto (GIST)’s Preschool and Kindergarten program, and with my son at a local daycare centre. I have been inspired by the experiences they have had there to create my own program tailored to a home daycare setting, that I started in the beginning of May 2019. It became clear to me in the years after becoming a parent myself that taking care of children was something I enjoyed and was good at, but coming from a very different academic and work background it took several years to finally make the jump and start this daycare to be able to do this as a career. There is no question that it has been the right choice for me, I am honoured to love and care for your children and support them as they grow and learn just as I do my own daughter and son.
I especially encourage the importance of music and language in my educational program with daily age-appropriate musical and reading-related activities. We have many children’s instruments as well as a full-size upright piano that the children are welcome to play. I regularly play the piano myself and sing in a local choir. I am happy to encourage your child's basic musical learning as my knowledge and their interest allows.
The daycare has full access to our entire main floor and the bathroom upstairs. The living room and dining room are the main playroom and the full space is babyproofed and equipped with gates.
We go daily to a nearby drop-in centre or playground in the morning and also spend time in the backyard after PM snack, weather permitting.
I am trained in First Aid and CPR and am a certified Food Handler.
I look forward to welcoming you and your child into our home and our family.
