Hello
I have a spot coming available in September as I have two daycare children heading to school.
Most of my daycare families stay with me for 3+ years, having siblings continue in my daycare until all are attending school.
Each day the children engage in free play, structured school time and circle time. We have a wide variety of educational toys, kitchen center, grocery store, doctor office, doll nursery and construction workbench. Sensory bins, water play, open ended toys and open art.
Prior families who's children have gone on to school were teachers, and they were very happy with how prepared their children were for school.
I provide a combination of a preschool and family feel type environment. We have both structured learning and learning through play. All the children who attend my daycare are fully prepared for jk when the time comes.
Kindness, empathy, sportsmanship and acceptance are core values that I help the children develop. I have fair and consistent boundaries that are age and developmentally appropriate.... redirecting, ignoring certain behavior and praising good behavior. As children get older, I do have "time-in" where the child sits to calm down and we talk about whatever it was that happened.
I provide healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks. I know how difficult it can be to try to get yourself and your child ready, fed and out the door on time... having breakfast at daycare helps to make mornings a bit smoother for my daycare families.
We have theme days or weeks, celebrate holidays and birthdays.
Some examples of our themes are Wacky Wednesday, Polar Express day, indoor beach day in the winter, plant week, we are all different and the same week, and Christmas in July.
We make crafts, dig in the garden and play in the sand. There's an outdoor music area, covered sandbox, water table, caterpillar climber, playhouse and swing set.
We play outside, go to the park and have picnics.... weather depending.
We raise caterpillars to release as butterflies. The children learn about the special lifecycle of butterflies and get so excited when it's time to release them.
I'm fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as is my assistant.
I worked at a nursery school for 3 years when my children were young and have had my own daycare for a total of 12 years
I have my Vulnerable Person's Police Clearance Check. I was a volunteer firefighter for 3 years and took Fire Prevention and Preplanning in college. I was also in St John's Ambulance for 5 years. I'm am currently waiting to renew my Standard First Aid and CPR-C.
I'm located in the Old Glenridge area of St Catharines, between Glendale and Westchester, which makes for easy access to the 406, Brock, the Pen Center and the downtown core.
I've raised four of my own children and have provided childcare for over 12yr.
You are making one of the toughest decisions you can make.....which provider is the best for my child? As a mother of 4 now adult children, I know how difficult this decision can be.
