I offer educational child care in my home for families who need a flexible schedule. If you have unique scheduling needs, please contact me to see if I can make arrangements for you.
In general, I offer care from 8 am - 2 pm (some families may only need certain hours within that time frame, such as 9 am - noon), and pick up/after school care from Jackman School in the afternoon. Families can choose the days that they need (for example, some families may just need Tuesday and Thursday, or one day a week.)
I also offering drop - in and temporary care.
I have a master’s degree in Education and taught second grade in Washington, DC. I continued to teach children as a nanny for families in Washington, DC and New York City. I loved the flexibility of teaching a few children at a time in their home and would plan thematic units around their interests, my travels, and current events. For example, we compared the sizes of different dinosaurs with yarn, and hung up the yarn on the wall -- but they were so big, they wouldn’t fit in the bedroom! After I went to Mexico City, we made self-portraits like Frida Kahlo and big murals like Diego Rivera. During the Olympics, we had our own Olympic Games with the other children in the building.
After I had my daughter, I took care of a little boy her age and brought her with me. They became best friends, and I felt so lucky to be able to continue to work and be with my child. Now that I have two children, I am excited about continuing my teaching adventure in a new capacity -- as a home day care provider.
Children are the focus in my home. The front living room serves as a cozy play space for books, music, Legos, imaginary games, forts, and anything else the kids come up with. The kitchen is the hub of the house and has a play kitchen for the kids to "cook" in, a children's activity table, and cabinets full of materials to create and explore. The back patio is perfect for messy projects and outdoor play on a nice day. I am walking distance from Withrow Park and an Early On center.
