High Five Childcare offers year-round five days a week program, which is based on the most effective early childhood education approaches. I use elements of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, HighScope, and Project approach.
The facility is surrounded with parks, lots of green areas and trails. The daycare is on the ground floor with plenty of natural light, has a playroom and a separate bedroom.
I have an E.C.E. Diploma with Honours and 5 years of rich experience in the field and 10 years of children related work, CPR + First Aid, Police Screen Check, Licensed daycare.
I have strong belief that children should have an opportunity to develop all domains on everyday basis (social/emotional, language/ communication, cognitive, gross and fine motor/ sensory). In my care children are provided with opportunities to satisfy their developing needs and well-being every day. I approach it by dividing the room and setting up centers (construction/ building, math/science, art, dramatic play, book/ quiet area).
My program's big part is developing creativity and thinking outside of the box. Children in my care have access to art materials daily. There is a balance of structured/ teacher-directed and children-initiated activities. During the child-initiated activities I focus on the process first and then on the product.
In addition, we spend much time outside and bring outside in. For example, we may collect natural material such as flowers, sticks, pinecones, snow and bring them inside to play, manipulate and explore.
Language development is a great and significant part of early years development. I use any and every opportunity to read books, sing songs, listen to audio (ex. transition times).
